Some info about anemia

Anemia is a condition where your blood has a lower than normal of red blood cells or red blood cells do not contain enough hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a red, iron-rich protein that gives the red color to blood. Hemoglobin in the red blood cells transports oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body. Our body cells use this oxygen to fuel the combustion (burning) of sugar and fat which is source of energy to our body. During this process carbon dioxide is created as a waste product. The red blood cells then transport the carbon dioxide back to the lungs. We exchange this carbon dioxide for fresh oxygen by breathing. Anemia occurs when the red blood cells do not carry enough oxygen to the tissues of the body.

Causes for anemia

There are few underlying causes for anemia, such as blood loss, impaired red blood cell production and in some cases, red blood cells are destroyed at an accelerated rate. Blood loss is the most common factor for anemia especially in patients with iron deficiency anemia or during heavy menstrual periods or even due to severe internal bleeding. Lack of red cell production might be inherited or acquired. Some babies are born without the capability to produce enough red blood cells such as those with aplastic anemia. Dietary habit that lacks of iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid might affect our body ability to produce enough red blood cells. In some inherited red blood cell disorder disease such as thalassemias, hemolytic anemia and sickle cell anemia will cause major destruction of red blood cells. Normal red blood cells have life expectancy of 4 months, but defects in red blood cell in these diseases will cause red blood cells dies faster.
The most common symptom of this disease is fatigue (feeling tired or weak). If you have this disease, it may seem hard to find the energy to do normal activities.
Other signs and symptoms of anemia include:
* Shortness of breath
* Dizziness
* Headache
* Coldness in the hands and feet
* Pale skin
* Chest pain
These signs and symptoms can occur because your heart has to work harder to pump oxygen-rich blood through your body.
Mild to moderate anemia may cause very mild symptoms or none at all.
Types of anemia
# Aplastic anemia
# Blood loss anemia
# Cooley’s anemia
# Diamond-Blackfan anemia
# Fanconi anemia
# Folate- or folic acid-deficiency anemia
# Hemolytic anemia
# Iron-deficiency anemia
# Pernicious anemia
# Sickle cell anemia
# Thalassemias

Some Ways That Quick Weight Loss Can Positively Effect Your Life

It would probably be both amusing and bizarre for an ancient human to see what modern people concern themselves with. Thanks in a large part to the fantastic industrial and agricultural revolutions, humanity is now trying to battle an epidemic of obesity. This leads most humans to consider how important it is to know the quick weight loss that will help them stay in proper shape for good health.

It is a mostly universally accepted fact that being over weight is a major health risk for a human. It can lead to a heart attack, which can be deadly at the worst. This is not some small possible conclusion, but rather something that must be faced and dealt with. A person who wishes to lead a healthy life will find it useful to consider all the benefits of doing so.

Something that many people tend to over look is that when a person loses weight, they do not only look great, but they also feel great. Self esteem is very important, it can lead to a better attitude, which can positively affect how well one works. This means that if a person has a bad self image, they really should do something to change it in order to benefit from an ego boost.

However, only a real licensed professional or expert can tell a person if they are making safe choices for their body. This is why anyone who is overweight should research options for weight loss, as well as why carrying too much extra fat can be unhealthy. However, they must also check with a doctor before acting. It is wise to be sure that one is taking the rational approach to a serious problem.

If a person wants to rapidly drop some excess fat, they should consider changing their diet. There are all sorts of different plans to choose from. There are what many call fad diets, various plans for life, and there lies a vast variety of options in between these two models. A person should explore all the options and then choose the plan that best suits the way they wish to lead their own life.

Of course it is far faster and more effective to not only change a diet, but to exercise as well. It seems harder than dieting at first, but once one gets used to it, they will find it as a powerful source for many reasons. One will release natural chemicals in their brain that give the emotion of pleasure, and they will also see a decrease in appetite quite often. It will become routine and many look forward to it, once they are accustomed to it.

Anyone who wishes to discover rapid results for their body must consider research. They will want to be sure to explore all the options and success stories that exist on the internet. A person will not feel as alone in their new quest if they can gain motivation by reading about others who also had to do what is tough but also very rewarding as well.

An individual will be shocked by how happy they feel and how great they look once they begin to experience weight loss. Getting into proper shape can change the attitude of any person. One who over eats because they are unhappy will not do so when they feel happy. This is why people start successful plans every day. If one sticks with a plan, they will see great weight loss tips results.

Some Helpful Guidelines When Taking a Hoodia Gordonii Diet Pill

Some Helpful Guidelines When Taking a Hoodia Gordonii Diet Pill

Hoodia gordonii is a cactus-like plant that has made waves in the weight loss industry due to its exceptional benefits. The plant, especially the gordonii variant, has been used by the San Bushmen during long hunting periods in order to curb their hunger and thirst. These miraculous characteristics of the plant made it tremendously popular to millions of health aficionados. Nowadays, hoodia gordonii is available in diet pill, tea or powder form. And when you’re taking some to shed those excess pounds, here are some helpful tips in making the most out of your weight loss product.

First, no matter how good a diet pill may be, even if it is hoodia gordonii, you have to start slow. Consider taking one dose of the weight loss supplement once per day, 45 to 60 minutes before meal. Also, don’t forget to take the pill with a full glass of water. Since hoodia gordonii not only suppresses appetite but thirst as well, you have to avoid dehydration as much as possible.

If you’re not sure about the exact amount of dosage, a good place to start is at 400 mg per day. Even though hoodia gordonii diet pill is not known to produce any side-effects, it’s still helpful to take the minimum daily dosage at first and slowly increase it along you go.

After a few weeks with relatively less to no side-effects, you can then start taking your weight loss supplement three times a day before every meal. Once again, don’t forget to take each dose with a full glass of water to avoid dehydration. This will then make your daily dosage to 1200 mg divided into three equal parts.

Many people will experience results a few days after taking the hoodia gordonii weight loss supplement. But if you don’t, wait for at least 2 weeks more. It generally takes about two weeks before the results start kicking in. You have to make sure that you’re taking the weight loss pill regularly in order to experience the results. If you still don’t experience any results after two weeks, consider increasing you dose to an equal division of 3500 mg per day.

If, however, you experienced the miraculous effects of your hoodia gordonii diet pill after two weeks, you can decrease your dose to a manageable amount. Since this weight loss supplement is considerably expensive, it may not be financially feasible to continue taking high dosages after experiencing the results, especially if you’re taking it along with a healthy eating habit and rigorous exercise regimen.

Some facts about honey

Honey is a quick source of energy. Honey adds flavor to foods and beverages. However, honey is always contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores that may pose dangerous fro babies under one year old. let’s see what the scientific findings about the honey:

Speakers at the First International Symposium on Honey and Human Health, held in Sacramento, CA, January 8, 2008, presented a number of research papers. (Fessenden R. Report to the Committee for the Promotion of Honey and Health) Findings include:

* Different varietals of honey possess a large amount of friendly bacteria (6 species of lactobacilli and 4 species of bifidobacteria), which may explain many of the “mysterious therapeutic properties of honey.”
* Lactobacilli, which deliver protective and beneficial benefits to bees as well as humans, were not found in the bees’ honey stomach during the winter months when the bees under investigation were fed sucrose, indicating that certain bee-feeding practices may have dangerous and unwanted effects on bees.
* Honey may promote better blood sugar control. Proper fueling of the liver is central to optimal glucose metabolism during sleep and exercise. Honey is the ideal liver fuel because it contains a nearly 1:1 ratio of fructose to glucose. Fructose “unlocks” the enzyme from the liver cell’s nucleus that is necessary for the incorporation of glucose into glycogen (the form in which sugar is stored in the liver and muscle cells). An adequate glycogen store in the liver is essential to supply the brain with fuel when we are sleeping and during prolonged exercise. When glycogen stores are insufficient, the brain triggers the release of stress hormones – adrenalin and cortisol – in order to convert muscle protein into glucose. Repeated metabolic stress from cortisol produced when less than optimal liver glycogen stores are available during sleep, leads over time, to impaired glucose metabolism, insulin resistance, diabetes, and increased risk for cardiovascular disease and obesity.
* Experimental evidence indicates that consumption of honey may improve blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity compared to other sweeteners. The body’s tolerance to honey is significantly better than to sucrose or glucose alone. Individuals with greater glucose intolerance (e.g., those with mild diabetes and Type 1 diabetes) showed significantly better tolerance to honey than sucrose. In addition, the antioxidants in honey, which have been shown to reduce oxidative stress, frequently by a larger factor than can be explained by their actual amount, may be beneficial for diabetics and help to improve endothelial function (the function of the cells that make up the lining of our blood vessels) and vascular health.
* In a year-long animal study comparing the effects of sucrose, honey and a low glycemic index (GI) sugar-free diet, rats on the honey-based diet showed: reduced weight gain and percentage of body fat, decreased anxiety, better spatial recognition memory, improved HDL cholesterol (15-20% higher than rats fed sugar or sucrose diets), improved blood sugar levels (HA1c), and reduced oxidative damage.
* Honey has been shown to be a more effective cough suppressant for children ages 2-18 than dextromethorphan (see “One Study Finds Buckwheat Honey To Be a Successful Cough Medicine” earlier in this Health Benefits section)
* Honey boosts immunity. Research conducted in several hospitals in Israel found honey effective in decreasing the incidence of acute febrile neutropenia (when high fever reduces white blood cell count) in 64% of patients. Honey also reduced the need for Colony Stimulating Factor (a compound produced in the cells lining the blood vessels that stimulate bone marrow to produce more white blood cells) in 60% of patients with acute febrile neutropenia; increased neutrophil count (another type of white blood cell), decreased thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), and stabilized hemoglobin levels at >11 gm/dl (a bit low but way better than full blown anemic).
* 32% of the cancer patients involved in the above immunity research reported improved quality of life.
